During a session marking AIMA’s first anniversary, Pedro Portugal Gaspar shared that “AIMA issued 250,000 administrative acts this year, covering residence permits, support for international protections, family reunifications, and ARIs.”

Gaspar added that AIMA “handled over 560,000 phone inquiries” and offered “in-person support to more than 230,000 people.”

Established on October 29, 2023, after the dissolution of the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF) and the High Commission for Migrations (ACM), Gaspar acknowledged that AIMA has faced a “challenging task” over the past year.

He emphasized, “The workers deserve recognition for their tremendous effort in fulfilling their mission,” and noted his decision to mark AIMA’s first anniversary with an entrepreneurship fair and a new protocol allowing 600 refugees to enter Portugal.
