Pinker, a new women-only taxi service, will soon launch in Portugal. The platform, similar to Uber, is designed to offer enhanced security for women by ensuring that all drivers are female.
This initiative aims to provide a safer travel experience for women requesting rides, as explained by the project's founder, Mónica Faneco.
Pinker, a new transport platform, stands out from competitors like Uber and Bolt by exclusively employing female drivers and catering solely to women. Founder Mónica Faneco emphasized the service's aim to provide safety and confidence, offering a new alternative. Initially launching in Lisbon, with plans for expansion to Porto and other cities, Pinker began as a women’s event and transfer service in 2019.
The concept was refined during the pandemic, leading to the platform's formal development. Operations will start later this week or early next week.
Pinker, a 100% Portuguese app, has gained positive reception, particularly from women, with strong pre-registrations from both users and drivers. Founder Mónica Faneco shared that the platform's focus on female drivers has also been well-received by men, particularly those with daughters or wives.
Licensed in both Portugal and Europe, Pinker already has over a thousand drivers interested. While Uber and Bolt have dominated Portugal’s TVDE sector since 2018, Pinker is positioning itself as a new, safer alternative for women.
