Santos Populares: Lisbon's Biggest Festive Tradition
The highlight of June in Lisbon is the Santos Populares (Popular Saints) festivities, a month-long celebration honoring the city’s patron saint, Santo António. From the Castelo to the Avenida, and from Praça do Comércio to Alfama, the city is transformed into a lively stage for music, parades, traditional food, and colorful decorations.
Marchas Populares June 12
The most anticipated event of the month is the Marchas Populares, where 24 neighborhoods compete in a colorful, choreographed parade along Avenida da Liberdade.

Santo António Weddings – June 12
Sixteen couples from Lisbon’s neighborhoods will get married at Sé de Lisboa in a beautiful collective ceremony, a heartwarming tradition that embodies Lisbon’s love and unity.
Arraiais Populares – All Month
Neighborhood street parties, known as Arraiais, fill the city with music, food, and dancing. Key districts hosting Arraiais include:

🏳️🌈 Lisbon Euro Pride March – June 21
Lisbon’s annual LGBTQIA+ Pride March returns to the streets in solidarity and celebration. Thousands are expected to join the peaceful demonstration and party, marching for equality and love.

🎊 Arraial Lisboa Pride – June 29
The ultimate closing party! Arraial Lisboa Pride is the biggest open-air LGBTQIA+ event in Portugal. It's free, inclusive, and packed with:
DJ sets and drag shows
Food and drink stalls
Activist stands and community outreach
Special performances by local and international artists
