The Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA) is set to begin notifying 4,574 foreign nationals this week, instructing them to leave Portugal voluntarily within 20 days. Minister of the Presidency, António Leitão Amaro, announced that the government has been informed by the Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA) that it is issuing 4,574 notifications to foreign nationals who are in an irregular situation, requiring them to leave Portuguese territory. He shared this information during a press briefing at the Government headquarters in Lisbon.
According to Minister of the Presidency António Leitão Amaro, the 4,574 foreign nationals being notified this week represent the first group of a total of 18,000 immigrants whose residency requests have been rejected.
He made the announcement during a press briefing at the Government headquarters in Lisbon, following a report by Jornal de Notícias (JN), which revealed that over 4,000 immigrants will be required to leave the country.
The notifications, issued by the Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA), give recipients 20 days to voluntarily depart from Portuguese territory.
